Connor McGregor Praises Jake Gyllenhaal Ahead of His Acting Debut

The UFC star and soon-to-be actor Conor McGregor spoke highly of his co-star Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming Road house remake.

Based on the 1989 cult classic film starring Patrick Swayze, the movie was given the green light in August and will also mark the acting debut of Conor McGregor.

Gyllenhaal recently filmed scenes for the movie at the UFC 285 event in Las Vegas and impressed many with his muscular physique and martial arts skills. McGregor praised Gyllenhaal’s help during filming in a video obtained by DailyMail.com.

However, when asked about his plans for future acting roles, the UFC champion expressed his desire to return to fighting instead. See his full comments below.

Great man. Great guy. He’s very patient with me, helpful. We shot some good stuff for the movie and can’t wait to see it come to fruition.

Road House

The first Road House received severe criticism and was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, and Worst Director. However, it has become a cult classic and an iconic film.

The film’s popularity was mainly due to Swayze’s performance as the lead actor and the exaggerated action scenes. Even now, Road House is considered one of the most enjoyable “bad” movies ever made.

Although the specifics of Gyllenhaal’s Road House remake have yet to be fully disclosed, the movie will follow a similar plot with a contemporary spin.

However, Certain alterations will unavoidably differentiate the new Road House from its forerunner, especially the toning down of fight sequences.

The setting has been relocated from Missouri to the Florida Keys. The protagonist, Elwood Dalton (Gyllenhaal), is portrayed as a former UFC middleweight fighter who lands a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse where things are not quite what they appear.

Given McGregor’s participation and the addition of former UFC athlete Jay Hieron, it seems that the mixed martial arts championship will significantly impact the new film.

While the fight scenes in Road House, starring Swayze, were often mocked, the teasers featuring Gyllenhaal’s fighting skills suggest that the movie will adopt a more intense and authentic approach to violence.

The final outcome of the remake is still uncertain, but all signs point to some remarkable fight scenes being included in the film.
