Nathaniel Essex, aka Marvel’s evil Mr. Sinister, is finally coming to screens this year! Creator Jordan Blum has revealed that the X-Men villain is set to appear in Hulu’s upcoming animated series M.O.D.O.K. along with a host of other Marvel characters, some of which are pretty obscure. No premiere date has been announced yet, but the show is scheduled to drop this year.
M.O.D.O.K. will center on the famous egomaniacal Marvel villain with a giant head and a tiny body, who struggles to balance his villainous organization, A.I.M., and his demanding family. The show is using stop-motion animation to bring out the comedic effects of the story created by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum.
According to a couple of tweets by Blum, a very comic-accurate (in appearance), Mr. Sinister will be a part of the series and will be heavily inspired by the incarnation found in the Hellions comic storyline. It remains to be seen how much the character will be involved in M.O.D.O.K.—it might be just a cameo since the titular character’s nemesis will be Austin Van Der Sleet.
The creators had earlier mentioned that Marvel had been very generous with the rights of the characters from the comics, and they were taking full advantage of it.
“…we have A-listers, D-listers, and people you would have to dig deep in the Marvel Handbook to even find existed,” Blum continued. “With all those characters, there’s so much comedy built into them and using them in these big sci-fi stories that are kind of grounded in these very human relationship stories.”

It seems like M.O.D.O.K. will be filled with Easter eggs, making a great treasure hunt for Marvel fans!
M.O.D.O.K.’s cast includes Patton Oswalt, Ben Schwartz, Melissa Fumero, Aimee Garcia, Beck Bennett, and others.
