Ms. Marvel Season 1 Finale and Post-Credits Scene Explained

Episode 6 of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, titled “No Normal,” lived up to its name after Kamala comes out to her family as Night Light and goes off to save her friends from Damage Control.

Kamala sheds her previous superhero identity and dons on her comic costume, finally naming her superhero persona Ms. Marvel, and her life will never be the same. This is confirmed with the finale’s post-credits scene, which sets up her return as Ms. Marvel in the 2023 MCU film The Marvels.

Ms. Marvel may have had a smaller audience than other MCU shows, but it is every bit as thrilling and beautiful as the other TV series under MCU’s banner. On July 13, 2022, Ms. Marvel ended its first season with a banging finale with multiple big moments.

Nakia (Yasmeen Fletcher) calls Kamala (Iman Vellani) to inform her of the danger Kamran (Rish Shah) and Bruno (Matt Lintz) face from Damage Control, headed by Agent Deveer (Alysia Reiner). Kamala receives her parents’ blessing with a new superhero suit and name, and Ms. Marvel flies to the high school where Kamran and Bruno are hiding.

Kamran, who discovered he has powers in Episode 5, “Time and Again,” is struggling to come to terms with everything. But Kamala and Kamran pose a united front to take on Agent Deveer and her agents.

Damage Control pushes them down despite their powers, using their hi-fi tech, but Kamala unleashes a new superpower, shapeshifting, and grows bigger. Ms. Marvel’s powers in this episode reflect her powers in the comics.

Kamran, reeling after the news of his mother’s death, loses control over his powers and causes mass destruction. Kamala pulls up a dome of energy to shield the innocent people in his wake while consoling him that his mother gave her life to save him.

People cheer for Kamala as she escapes the scene, while Agent Deveer is reprimanded by the DoD over her actions against orders. Kamala then goes back to her family, who tell her how proud they are of her. Kamran takes refuge at Red Dagger’s (Aramis Knight) hideout, and it looks like his adventures are just beginning.

Bruno discloses to Kamala that her genetic coding has changed since gaining powers, like “a mutation,” hinting at an X-Men connection to the MCU. More about this could be explored in other MCU projects, but there’s one last interesting bit at the end of the finale.

In Ms. Marvel’s post-credits scene, we see Kamala’s Ms. Marvel flop onto her bed after a day of superhero duties when suddenly her magical bangle begins to glow and throb.

In a sudden energy warp, Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, a.k.a Captain Marvel, swaps places with Kamala. As she looks around in her confusion, the screen turns black, and we see the words “Ms. Marvel will return in The Marvels.”

The post-credits scene sets up Ms. Marvel’s return in the upcoming MCU film, The Marvels, where we will see Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel, and Teyonnah Paris’ Monica Rambeau, who had gained similar powers in WandaVision.

When Kamala swapped places with Carol Danvers, where did she end up—was it a dangerous mission, mid-fight in space? How will Captain Marvel travel back to help her young protege? What will Ms. Marvel’s reaction be after meeting her role model for the first time? All will be answered in 2023, so hang tight.
