Cobra Kai BTS Featurette Shows the Actors Perfecting Own Stunts

Cobra Kai is the gift that keeps giving. As season 4 holds onto the number one spot for Netflix’s streaming hours this week since its debut on December 31, you can bet there’s much more to come.

With season 5 already wrapping up filming, it’s only a matter of time before Netflix announces its release date. If you’ve already binged the new season, the streamer has dropped a behind-the-scenes featurette to feed your obsession.

The 3-minute clip showcases all the practice and choreography that goes into perfecting all those slick moves and stunts of our favorite characters for the All-Valley tournament.

Given that the series is the continuation of the classic Karate Kid films and revolves around the martial arts, the expectations regarding the stunts are always high. The clip shows all the actors trying to ace different flips, falls, and kicks over and over again.

Cobra Kai BTS Featurette:

William Zabka says that the hectic filming schedule gives them very little time to practice their sequences, “We don’t have the luxury of having a lot of time to learn the fighting because of the pace that we’re shooting the show.”

The cast members practice with each other, and their stunt doubles with the stunt coordinators guiding them. However, there are also slip-ups as Jacob Bertrand stops in the middle of a sequence with Tanner Buchanan to question the next move, and they laugh it off.

Ralph Macchio talks about the thrill of working on the stunts themselves, “We all take a great deal of pride in being there and doing it ourselves.” Zabka mentions that there are a few bruises and strained muscles here and there as a result.

The younger cast members practice their hook kicks, and punches as Xolo Maridueña compliments Buchanan to have the “best moves” of them all. But to Buchanan, it’s Zabka who is committed to every single stunt.

As each fight is symbolic to the plot and different character arcs,

We’re putting personality into the fighting, and we’re putting emotion into the fighting. And that makes it more authentic.

As the writers are busy writing the scripts of season 6, fans can relax knowing there are no uncertainties or delays. Since season 4 ended on a cliff-hanger, setting up things for the next season, the wait is sure to seem longer than ever.

All four seasons of Cobra Kai are currently available to stream on Netflix.
