Jupiter’s Legacy builds on the superheroes of The Union, who received their powers in the 1930s.

Although after almost a century of serving as humanity’s defenders, their outdated ideals start to fail. Enter the next generation: their superpowered kids, as they all must prove their worth to their parents and become the next saviors while battling their own personal struggles.

As expected, fans of the Jupiter’s Legacy comics were curious to compare the comics and the show. The verdict was largely in favor of the series. The cast’s acting has received much praise for their portrayal of the characters in the series.

Fans especially loved the live-action costume designs of their favorite superheroes.

Not to mention the stunning visuals and aesthetics.

As the hardcore fans were on a nostalgia trip, critics seemed not too happy with the Netflix venture. Several reviews deemed it unable to hit the mark and just another brick in the superhero genre wall with nothing quite outstanding.

Among them was the NPR’s review which compares Jupiter’s Legacy to recent superhero series. It opined that Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy was less cynical and empty than Amazon’s The Boys but also less dutiful and disappointing than Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

David Griffin of IGN noted:

“While not as illuminating or inventive as those previously mentioned series, Jupiter’s Legacy delivers plenty of exciting superhero action, compelling stories, and memorable characters thanks to strong performances from its leading cast.”

But with Season 1 wrapped up, here’s looking forward to a second instalment that could perhaps learn from previous mistakes and make long-time fans of the story proud.

Josh Duhamel as Sheldon/ the Utopian provides a strong character basis along with Leslie Bibb’s Grace and Ben Daniels’ Walter.

The younger cast, including Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, and Ian Quinlan, too, give decent enough performances to hold the show together.

Ultimately, Jupiter’s Legacy is definitely not on the level of DC or Marvel universes, but it comes close enough and seems overall enjoyable.
