Fire Breaks Out At Stranger Things Set, None Injured

Stranger Things has an update, but it’s not the one you want to hear: On August 4, a fire reportedly broke out at Netflix’s studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is also where Stranger Things has been filming its fourth season.

The news was first reported by Newsweek, who also tweeted out a video of said fire. Fortunately, as the source states, no civilians or firefighters were caught in the fire or sustained injuries. The fire was put out thereafter.

The cause behind the fire has not been disclosed — especially whether it was tied to the show’s filming set or just an unconnected mishap. Neither has Netflix come out with a statement addressing the situation, including if the fire has caused any further delay to Stranger Things.

We have an inkling that there isn’t much worry to about. Sure, the last time we saw the Hawkins gang was in July 2019 and since then the production has succumbed to pandemic delays. But very recently, executive producer Shawn Levy stated that filming was nearly done, as reported in Collider. If we’re good, we may even get a little teaser this month!

Since filming for Season 4 has almost been wrapped, it also gives us reason to believe the fire has not caused any delays.

What happened last in Stranger Things Season 3? David Harbour’s Hopper was thought to be dead, but a tiny 2020 teaser revealed that he was caught in a Russian prison camp. This will be explored in-depth in the coming season. We also know that the Bryer’s family along with Eleven are planning on leaving good ol’ Hawkins, Indiana behind.

A release date for Season 4 has not been fixed. The rendezvous with the Upside Down may happen late in 2021 or early 2022.
