New Film Merchandise of The Flash Reveals First Look of Dark Flash

After being in the works for nearly a decade, Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen will return in the 2023 film, The Flash. Miller, who’s played the Scarlet Speedster in the DCU in previous projects like Snyder and Wheadon’s Justice League, will play the role of two Barry Allens in the film, but we wonder if he could play a third.

New film merchandise was released this week, giving us our look at Keaton’s Batman and Miller’s younger Barry Allen and the present timeline Barry Allen. But the new photo also reveals the first look at DCU’s Dark Flash, hinting at his appearance in the upcoming 2023 film.

Take a look at the photo shared by @DcversoMidias on Twitter below:

The shared image is the first look of the Dark Flash, and not only that but the first mention of the DC Comics character in the entire film’s marketing. Dark Flash’s confirmed feature in the movie may have answered the longtime question the DCU fandom has been pondering – who will be the main villain in The Flash?

Whether Miller will play Black Flash, or some other undisclosed cast member will help bring the demonic Flash to life, we still don’t know. But thanks to the comics, we may have some idea about the mystery behind the masked Dark Flash.

Ezra Miller as Barry Allen

In the comics, Dark Flash was an alternate version of Wally West, otherwise known as “Walter,” who submitted to the dark after Kobra killed Linda Park. But since Wally West doesn’t exist in the DCU yet, this theory may not pan out in the 2023 film.

Another version of the Dark Flash, previously seen in the Arrowverse Flash, follows the storyline that Black Flash is the harbinger of death for the other speedsters across the broad timeline. Even if Miller were to play this deadly version of the Flash, the theory could work since we already have two Barrys, and a third one’s existence is possible.

A different talent playing Dark Flash is totally plausible since this setup could pin the demonic version of the speedster as the much-awaited villain in The Flash.
