Marvel Releases New Clip for ‘Loki’ Titled “Introducing Agent Mobius”

Marvel Studios has released a new clip for its upcoming Tom Hiddleston-starring series Loki. The MCU’s fan-favorite villain who was thought to be killed in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War will be making a comeback in his standalone show premiering June 9.

Now, Marvel has released additional footage during the MTV Movie & TV Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles yesterday. A similar short clip for the upcoming Marvel movie Black Widow was also released.

Titled “Introducing Agent Mobius”, the clip comes only a few weeks ahead of the show’s debut on Disney+ and provides a better look at the first-time meeting between Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius.

The latest look is also filled with the usual banter that fans have come to associate the characters with from previous trailers and clips. Some of the footage has been seen in the exclusive clip that came out late last year, but audiences can now see the full scene before the first episode drops on the streaming service. Check out the clip here:

In line with past teases, the series seems to have a much different tone than the other Phase 4 shows. But Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has already described Loki as a crime thriller series, which justifies the shift.

Even though the clip runs for barely over a minute, it still provides many notable details about the series’ direction. Mobius reveals that he had Loki extracted from a place where the Time Variance Authority (TVA) planned to kill him, which points to the organization’s darker intentions with the God of Mischief.

At one point, Loki also references the TVA’s goal to protect the “sacred timeline,” a phrasing that has been used in previous promotional materials and can be assumed to be related to the MCU’s main timeline. This becomes an indication that Loki is already aware of the consequences that have followed his past actions and that Mobius and the TVA could recruit him to fix the timeline he broke.

As introduced in Avengers: Endgame, the show will follow an alternate timeline where Loki steals the Tesseract aka Space Stone in 2012 to escape getting captured by the Avengers, which leads to his arrest by the TVA. Loki then has to either help fix the timeline or face being removed from existence.

Besides Wilson’s Mobius, Loki is bound to come across many other variants of himself, including Lady Loki. But judging from the recent clip, it appears that Loki will see its titular protagonist back to his mischief once the show hits our screens. Plus, with a second season in development, who knows what Loki’s fate holds in this new timeline.
