‘Army of the Dead’ to Feature Zombies out of Your Nightmares, Says Snyder

A recent teaser for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead teases the terrifying new zombies set to take on the mercenary group led by Dave Bautista.

Since #ArmyOfTheDead was trending on Twitter as part of a fan campaign, the director found the perfect opportunity to get the poster out as well. The new campaign’s goal is to ensure Army of the Dead is Snyder’s most talked-about movie of the year.

Now, Netflix has dropped a new teaser for the upcoming movie, which centers on the more intelligent breed of what are usually deemed mindless creatures, and they are truly horrifying. Along with glimpses of the human cast, the main attraction of the clip remains the zombies, who are the main antagonists of the film.

In one scene, the zombie queen comes face-to-face with the team, while in others, a horde of zombies can be seen attacking them. Snyder, who later reshared the tweet, commented saying,

“They’re straight out of your nightmares.”

He also shared a new alternate poster for the upcoming movie which sees the group behind a psychedelic colourful background. Check out the poster here:

This comes after Warner Bros. disregarded fans’ pleas for a Snyder Cut sequel which launched #RestoreTheSnyderVerse after #ReleaseTheSnyderCut proved successful. Both hashtags are currently trending, thanks to the imminent release of Army of the Dead.

The zombie genre has been in the cinema industry for a long time now and has attracted many viewers. Some of the classic and beloved names in this genre include The Walking Dead, World War Z, and Resident Evil

However, in recent years, the hype surrounding it seems to have comparatively waned. Thus, Snyder’s Army of the Dead could be seen as a potential resurgence of the genre, provided it turns out to be a success.

The director’s second zombie film since his debut with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the original George A Romero’s by the same name, the movie will see him return to his roots.

Other than Army of the Dead, the director has also secured a prequel film called Army of Thieves which will be released on the same platform. An anime-style TV series has also been confirmed, and it seems a franchise is in the making.

Army of the Dead will follow a bunch of ex-mercenaries hired by a casino boss to break into the zombie-infested Vegas and retrieve $200 million hidden in a vault under a casino. But what they don’t expect is that these zombies are not as brain-dead as they seem.

Instead, they’re smarter and more organized, which poses a great threat to the group. Furthermore, the trailers also show zombie animals, including birds, horses, and even a ferocious zombie tiger.

According to Snyder, the movie’s opening scene will help shed light on their origins and is expected to be the central theme of the movie. But until it hits the screens, we’ll just have to make do with our zombie-filled nightmares.
