It all begins with Jason Sudeikis’ Bryce, an assassin sent off on a mission where he paints the snowy white mountains of Japan red. Our buddy Hit-Monkey who is witnessing the whole showdown, is just an ordinary Japanese snow macaque at the time.

But something goes incredibly wrong — Bryce gets shot and dies at the hands of an unknown assailant. Hit-Monkey is noticeably traumatized by the amount of bloodshed he witnesses.

(In fact, in the comics, the other monkeys in his clan are killed too. It is unknown if the show will depict this as well).

Magically (freakishly) Hit-Monkey discovers that Bryce’s spirit is connected to him. He can now see and hear the assassin, and that is not going to be the end of this weirdness.

From dressing up like the Men in Black to overcoming being a “conflicted killer,” Hit-Monkey does it all to find out who’s behind Bryce’s death and avenge him, all while navigating the Yakuza underworld.

In the trailer, we also get multiple snippets of George Takei as politician Shinji, trying to set things straight after Bryce’s death and Olivia Munn as his niece Akiko. Supporting cast includes Ally Maki as cop Haruka and Nobi Nakanishi as Officer Ito.

While many streamers were considered a viable platform, Hit-Monkey settled to Hulu, where MODOK has its home.

Originally Hit-Monkey was supposed to share the universe with all of Marvel’s shows on Hulu and ultimately tie into Marvel’s The Offenders for a crossover. But the show has been revised to make Hit-Monkey a standalone.

All ten of Hit-Monkey’s episodes will be released on Hulu on November 17. A fantastic cast and a quirky concept, I definitely want to see how this plays out!

About Hit-Monkey

Hit-Monkey is an animated series by Marvel and Hulu based on the superhero of the same name. Hit-Monkey first appeared in Marvel Comics in 2010 and was created by Daniel Way and Dalibor Talajić.

The Hit-Monkey cast stars Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) as Bryce, ghost of the dead assassin-cum-mentor, George Takei (Star Trek, Mulan) as politician Shinji and Olivia Munn (X-Men: The Apocalypse) as Akiko, Shinji’s niece.

The plot revolves around a Japanese snow macaque, Hit-Monkey, who has incredible killing skills, on a quest for revenge with his mentor Bryce. The assassin was sheltered at Monkey’s clan, but the people after him ended up slaughtering everyone in the village, thus making Monkey swear upon revenge. Through the Yakuza underworld, Hit-Monkey will kill anyone in his path, while political drama unfolds in the bakground.
