New Video for ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ Goes Behind the Scenes

A recent video shared by Marvel shows behind-the-scenes footage of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The new show in the studio’s Phase 4 is only the second among a line of many others coming up on Disney+.

The media giant announced its plans of expanding production for more content in December 2020 to compete with other streaming services. The plans included the creation of 10 new Marvel TV shows, the first of which was WandaVision, which wrapped up at the beginning of March.

President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has stated that the shows will delve into the backstories and focus on the lesser-explored characters. WandaVision followed the idyllic “married” life of Wanda and Vision. In the meantime, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will put attention on the budding relationship between Sam Wilson aka. Falcon and Bucky Barnes aka. the Winter Soldier.

Sam and Bucky

First coming in contact with each other in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sam and Bucky have had a strained relationship, with neither fully trusting the other. However, the show’s premise has confirmed that both of them will end up working together, this time without the company of Rogers as a bridge.

In a new featurette shared by the show’s official Twitter account, actors Sebastian Stan (Bucky) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) are seen with director Kari Skogland, head writer Malcolm Spellman and executive producer Nate Moore discussing the new challenges the duo must face. Moore notes that the characters come together due to their shared purpose, or the lack of it.

On one hand, Bucky suffers coming to terms with his traumatic past and restarting a new life from scratch. In contrast, Sam struggles with finding his identity and whether he’s worthy of the Captain America title. The acting duo expressed their gratitude for being given the opportunity to explore their respective characters in depth.

However, if Sam does end up accepting the shield, that’d automatically make him MCU’s new Captain America. This would also make an African-American the face of the superheroes, thus being a significant win for colored representation.

Similarly, on that note, if Bucky is able to overcome the ghosts of his past, he too can renounce his previous Winter Soldier role and start a new life. Until then, we’ll have to stay tuned!
