A new behind-the-scenes video from the sets of the upcoming series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, gives a glimpse at Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood in their costumes.
The upcoming series is being developed by Rick Riordan, the author of the original young adult fantasy series, and follows the story of 12-year-old Percy Jackson, who discovers he is a demigod, the son of the Greek God Poseidon.
The final cast of the Disney+ series was announced six months ago, after which the cast began filming for the first season. The first season will be based on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, the first book of the Percy Jackson series, where Percy is accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt.
The cast includes Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover. Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mulally, Timm Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, and Charlie Bushnell star in supporting roles.
A Twitter user, HeyKarennM, posted a new video from the Percy Jackson sets just two months after production began for the series. The clip shows Percy, along with his friends Annabeth and Grover, in costume while shooting on the streets of Vancouver. Check out the post below-
Though the video is short and does not seem to reveal too much, there are various hints in it for the fans. The trio is seen in their school attire crossing the road, but Grover can be seen wearing large motion-capture socks and walking in short, quick steps while approaching a traffic light. This indicates a scene after Percy discovers Grover’s real identity as a satyr.
The scene is definitely after Percy discovers his identity, as he would not have met his friends before going to Camp Half-Blood, the special training camp and school for demigods. Irrespective of the scene’s timing, it is an exciting first glimpse at Percy and his friends.
Riordan seems overwhelmingly positive about the show’s progress and is delighted with the casting. Hopefully, fans too will love the actors in their roles, respectively, and Percy Jackson will get a much better adaptation on screen after the disasters that were the two feature films starring Logan Lerman.
No official release date has been announced for Percy Jackson and the Olympians yet, but it is expected to premiere in 2024.
