A new trailer for the extended 10th season of The Walking Dead teases Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, and Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, in a showdown.
Initially supposed to air in April 2020, The Walking Dead season 10 finale was previously postponed to October, for COVID-related production delays. However, in the AMC drama’s Comic-Con panel in July 2020, it was announced that the 10th Season would be extended by six episodes, to be aired in 2021.
In the new teaser, an old fan-favorite rivalry has been revived. The Walking Dead season 7 premiere saw Negan take her husband, Glenn’s, life. Since then, Maggie has been waiting for her chance at revenge.
Maggie had many chances to avenge Glenn’s death during the years when Negan was imprisoned in Alexandria. Still, despite not being in favor of Rick’s decision to let Negan live, she never took advantage of those opportunities.
After Lauren Cohan left The Walking Dead in Season 9 to pursue other projects, it seemed fans would never get the most awaited face-off. Negan was released from jail behind Maggie’s back and set out for a redemption arc, becoming Carol’s vengeance vessel against Alpha. With Maggie returning to the franchise and Negan free, justice for Glenn might finally make it to the plotline.
1. Does Maggie kill Negan?
From what can be inferred from the synopses of the new episodes of Season 10, “Maggie has returned with a story she is not ready to share, even when her past catches up to her.” In the same episode, “Negan’s safety is at stake again,” which sounds like something goes down between Negan and Maggie.
In a later episode, “Carol takes Negan on a journey, hoping to minimize the increasing tension.” Hopefully, whatever happens between Negan and Maggie only creates unrest but does not lead to Maggie taking Negan’s life.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently posted images of himself reading a script for season 11, which might mean that Negan survives The Walking Dead season 10.
The Walking Dead season 10 returns to AMC on February 28, 2021.
2. About The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is a neo-western horror drama that is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Robert Kirkman. It currently stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and others.
Rick Grimes, a sheriff’s deputy, wakes up from a coma to find that the world has just gone through a zombie apocalypse. He soon realizes that the world is divided into the zombies- the ‘walkers’- and a group of survivors who will do anything to survive.
The recent season, that is season 11, will adapt material from issues #175–193 of the comic book series and focuses on the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, a large network of communities that has advanced equipment and almost fifty thousand survivors living in their different settlements.
