Nicolas Cage Drank His Own Blood While Filming Renfield!

While working on the movie Renfield, Nicolas Cage unintentionally embodied the character of Dracula by drinking actual blood.

Even though -Nicolas Hoult plays the main character, Cage’s portrayal of the notorious vampire has attracted a lot of attention.

In the film, Cage’s character is the brutal boss of Renfield, and has become a notable highlight of the promotional campaign.

Although Renfield is a sequel to Dracula from 1931, the film won’t focus much on Dracula. Nevertheless, Cage has a chance to embody the horrific traits of vampires in real life.

In a Reddit Ask-Me-Anything session to promote Renfield, Cage revealed that he unintentionally drank his own blood while filming. This was likely because he was wearing real fangs. Here is a quote from Cage on the matter.

No reason in terms of method, but the fangs were genuine fangs, they were ceramic and quite pointy. So I did bite my lip a few times which made me drink my own blood.

Renfield differs from its predecessor in that it doesn’t solely belong to the horror genre.

Although it will incorporate certain scary elements, its primary focus is to portray the comedic aspects of serving as a meek servant to one of the most sinister villains in history.

Nicolas Cage plans to emphasize the most ruthless characteristics of Dracula, portraying him as the most terrible boss one can imagine.

To ensure Dracula remains unique, Cage has been working hard to develop his own interpretation of the character.

With so many actors having portrayed the vampire, Cage intends to incorporate elements from Christopher Lee’s depiction while emphasizing the character’s surreal and comedic aspects.

Despite limited screen time for Dracula in the film, Cage’s performance is anticipated to be a standout based on the trailers.

Incorporating Renfield’s viewpoint could shed light on an overlooked aspect of Dracula – his bond with his servants.

Despite being a popular figure in books and movies for years, Renfield has seldom been able to express his own version of events.

This fresh outlook can give him a unique identity and add to the existing character’s complexity.
