No Season 2 for ‘WandaVision’, Says Director

WandaVision will not be coming back for a season 2, according to director Matt Shakman. The show, which will have its season finale premiere on March 5, 2021, is all set to close the chapter to Wanda and Vision’s story.

As the first show of MCU’S Phase 4, WandaVision had become quite the attraction among fans since its debut in January. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the show revolves around Wanda and Vision’s married idyllic lifestyle in the suburban town of Westview.

Played by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, who reprised their roles from the movies, WandaVision’s episodes are based in different eras of famous American sitcoms. However, the show revealed in its penultimate episode that Wanda had imagined her American sitcom life to deal with her grief surrounding Vision’s death.

Also featuring recurring characters from the franchise, the show brought back Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), and Pietro Maximoff, played by Evan Peters. The season finale, which will be coming out this week, is reported to be the show’s longest episode.

Fans who are excited about the episode are looking forward to what’s in store for Wanda’s future. The Scarlet Witch has also been confirmed for an appearance in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel, titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Even though her role in the movie remains under wraps, WandaVision is presumed to follow into the film.

Many have also hypothesized Doctor Strange resurfacing in the series. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has mentioned that a second season is not out of the question, but currently, the studio is taking the shows at a gradual pace. Even though Shakman has noted that he and his team have no plans of making a season 2, he also remarked “that could change” depending on “the story.”
