The latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die, has been pushed back, yet again, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film was scheduled to release in April of 2021, but an update from the official 007 page on Twitter has revealed that the newest date is October 8th, 2021. Although movies getting postponed for the pandemic is hardly unexpected now, Bond fans all over the world are extremely disappointed since this is the fourth delay in No Time to Die’s release.
As the 25th Bond movie, No Time to Die will see a retired Bond enjoying in Jamaica until his friend Felix Leiter, from the CIA, asks him to help rescue a kidnapped scientist. However, a mysterious antagonist with deadly technology makes things difficult for 007.
Every Bond movie is a highly anticipated event as a chance for Bond fans to come together and celebrate the superspy’s charisma, but No Time to Die has even more emotions attached to it.
Daniel Craig, who has worn the suit of the suave British agent since 2006 and is one of the most popular Bonds to date, had revealed after Spectre that he would not return to the role. After months, it was announced that he would be coming back to the franchise one last time to star in a movie that would give his character a proper send-off.
Not only is No Time to Die Craig’s final appearance as Bond, but the film is also supposed to introduce the first female 007, who will be played by Lashana Lynch. The Cary Fukunaga-directed film also promises Academy Award-winner Rami Malek as the big bad, making it one of the most eagerly awaited movies of recent times.
Originally supposed to open in April 2020, the film was first pushed back to November 2020 and then April 2021 amidst rising coronavirus concerns. It was believed that the world would normalize by April but not much has changed.
It has been reported that No Time to Die was screened for streamers with a price of $600 million and none were willing to pay even half the amount.
Ever since lockdown began in March, theatres and movie halls have been hit the worst in terms of business. As more and more production companies delay the release of movies, the theatres continue to bear an unfair brunt of the pandemic.
As they wait for another six months to see No Time to Die, fans may console themselves that the latest Bond movie is following the last two’s trend of a November release.
