Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Premiere Ending Explained

We’re just two episodes into the new season of Only Murders in the Building, and it appears that there’s already a slew of suspects for the murder of The Arconia’s former board president, Bunny Folger.

After the shocking conclusion to Season 1, Only Murders in the Building has returned with another high-voltage drama season. In light of Mabel, Charles, and Oliver now being persons of interest in Bunny’s murder, the trio is arrested.

On top of it all, Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) trash-talks the trio in her latest episode, in which she announces that she will investigate Bunny Folger’s suspicious death on her podcast, “Only Murderers in the Building”.

For their names to be cleared, the trio will have to undergo another investigation that is sure to take them down some interesting rabbit holes.

Charles, Mabel, and Oliver realize that finding the murderer is the only way to get their names clear, despite being initially discouraged from continuing their podcast.

Thus, they produce a follow-up to their original podcast, which enables the show to continue with its memorable and funny commentary on the murder mystery.

The trio begins by trying to find evidence against them by breaking into Bunny’s apartment. Oliver is particularly concerned because of a few threatening notes he had sent her over the last few years.

While these three are exploring the flat, two Arconia residents, Uma and Howard, enter the apartment. They are after an expensive painting that is valued at around one million dollars. Uma enters Bunny’s bedroom and screams when she sees that the painting has been stolen.

The gang manages to hide in a nearby closet and discovers a hidden elevator that takes them to the ground floor.

Mabel starts having flashbacks from the night of Bunny’s death when she remembers her saying “fourteen” and “savage” before dying. Charles returns to his apartment only to find Bunny’s erotic painting in the apartment.

The trio thus concludes that they are being framed for the murder and Bunny’s murder had something to do with the painting.

The gang finds out that it is Charles’ father in the painting and it has been painted by an artist named Rose Cooper who died under mysterious circumstances.

A further flashback introduces Charles’ father, an aspiring actor, who frequented the building as well and used to date both Rose Cooper as well as Bunny’s mother—Leonara Folger.

Fearing that someone is trying to frame them more and more, they try to get rid of the painting, by putting it back in Bunny’s apartment but their plans are foiled when people show up around the secret elevator exit and they’re forced to leave the painting in the dumpster.

Amy Schumer then finds the painting in the dumpster and hangs it in her house, thinking it is Charles in the painting. Leonara, who is looking for Bunny’s painting, examines the painting at Amy’s apartment and concludes that it is not the real piece.

While there are a lot of loose ends as of now, every new episode will take us one step closer to the real killer(s). Watch new episodes of Only Murders in the Building Season 2, every Tuesday on Hulu.
