Ordinary Joe Season 1 Episode 9 Recap
Musician Joe is distressed after finding out that Amy was cheating on him. Amy tells him that it was just a moment of weakness and that she still loves him. Celeste tells him that he needs to make up his mind on whether he’s willing to move past this and patch things up with Amy. Bobby’s widow is going to run for his seat, making her a direct competition for Amy.
Joe performs at a donor event and he gets really emotional after Amy introduces him, telling the audience the story of how she fell in love with him. His voice breaks and he starts to cry mid-song. Later that night, Amy gets a call from her doctor, telling her she’s pregnant.
In Cop Joe’s universe, Amy is staying with him and offers to help his mother with thanksgiving cooking. However, things become tense over Thanksgiving dinner as Celeste starts to talk about their father’s anger issues. She’s upset that nobody in their family talks about anything and how it’s strange that Joe is still living with his mother. She gets angry and storms off.
Later, Joe apologizes to Amy for the unpleasant dinner. He gets a call about a fire and immediately rushes to the scene. A man tells him that his son is still stuck inside the building. Before rushing into the burning building, Joe tells Amy that he doesn’t want to leave anything unsaid and tells her that he loves her. Eric and his wife ask Joe to be their baby’s godfather.
Nurse Joe gets a call from Jenny, telling him she has to work on a pro bono case with the professor. She suggests getting an aide to help care for their son. Joe hires one of his coworkers, who is also a nursing student. Kinsley immediately hits it off with Chris. They all have the thanksgiving meal together. Amy and Eric tell them that they’ve decided to adopt a child.
