Original cast members such as Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, and Paget Brewster have been roped in to return for the revival. However, some series regulars, such as Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney, will not return for the new season.

Unlike the original show’s format, the new season will focus on a single case throughout the season. Each episode focused on one case in the original format of the series. Season 16 will also feature an antagonist who will be a bigger threat to the Behavioral Analysis Unit than they can imagine.

The new antagonist has taken advantage of the social distancing rules during the Covid-19 pandemic to develop a network of serial killers. As the world returns to normalcy, these killers will become more operative.

The cast began filming for the Criminal Minds revival last week, and the commencement of production was confirmed by series regular Paget Brewster. Brewster even shared an image of her new look as Emily Prentiss in the series.

These BTS images and hints from the cast increase the excitement and anticipation for the series’s revival. As of now, no official release date for season 16 has been announced. However, despite all the roadblocks, the show is in production, and the makers should release a trailer soon.
