A new behind-the-scenes video from the sets of Criminal Minds teases the return of original BAU agents such as David Rossi and Emily Prentiss in the upcoming season.

A year after the crime drama ended its long run of 15 seasons on CBS, rumors suggested that the show was being revived for Paramount+. In July 2022, Paramount+ officially announced the return of Criminal Minds with season 2, consisting of 10 episodes.

Original cast members such as Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, and Paget Brewster have been roped in to return for the revival. However, some series regulars, such as Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney, will not return for the new season.

Unlike the original show’s format, the new season will focus on a single case throughout the season. Each episode focused on one case in the original format of the series. Season 16 will also feature an antagonist who will be a bigger threat to the Behavioral Analysis Unit than they can imagine.

The new antagonist has taken advantage of the social distancing rules during the Covid-19 pandemic to develop a network of serial killers. As the world returns to normalcy, these killers will become more operative.

A fan account on Twitter, @besthotchniss, has shared a TikTok video from the sets of Criminal Minds, showing how the trailers are being prepped to celebrate the returning members of the original cast of the show.

The video shows names like Prentiss and Garcia affixed to each trailer, hinting at their return in the new season. Check out the video below –

The cast began filming for the Criminal Minds revival last week, and the commencement of production was confirmed by series regular Paget Brewster. Brewster even shared an image of her new look as Emily Prentiss in the series.

These BTS images and hints from the cast increase the excitement and anticipation for the series’s revival. As of now, no official release date for season 16 has been announced. However, despite all the roadblocks, the show is in production, and the makers should release a trailer soon.

About Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds is an American police procedural crime drama television series created and produced by Jeff Davis. The series aired its final season in January 2020 but in February 2021 it was announced that a 10-episode revival was officially greenlit for Paramount+.

The show’s original cast consisted of Mandy Patinkin, Thomas Gibson, Lola Glaudini, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A. J. Cook, and Kirsten Vangsness. With several of them being replaced by Paget Brewster, Joe Mantegna, Rachel Nichols, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, Damon Gupton, and Daniel Henney.

The series follows a group of criminal profilers who work for the FBI as members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), using behavioral analysis and profiling to investigate crimes and find the unsub (unknown subject), the team’s nickname for perpetrators. The show tells the story of the team as they work on various cases and tackle their personal struggles.
