Elliot Page is currently working on a memoir that will detail his life story, from the long list of films in his career to his journey as a transgender person.
Flatiron Books will be publishing Page’s memoir, titled Pageboy, set to come out next year. The publishing house made the announcement on Thursday,
The memoir will delve into Page’s relationship with his body, his experiences as one of the most famous trans people in the world, and will cover mental health, assault, love, relationships, sex, and the cesspool that Hollywood can be.
As reported by Deadline, Pageboy is rumored to have sold to Flatiron Books for more than $3 million and will detail all the struggles Page had to go through right from his early days in Hollywood.
The actor has been vocal about his experiences since coming out as trans. While talking to Oprah Winfrey on Apple TV+’s The Oprah Conversation, Page said,
Well, it’s this interesting dichotomy in a way where on some level it feels just like the most miraculous, amazing thing, and it’s also just the experience of, ‘Oh, there I am.’ A part of me was like, ‘Oh my god, why was that so hard? Why?’
Why has society made getting to this place of my life — because that’s the situation we’re facing. And yeah, it was probably driving my friends crazy, sending them profile photos of me post having top surgery and how different I felt after that and all this space.
Page also said that being open about his whole journey, including his top surgery, has been a “freeing experience.”
Page, who came out as transgender in December 2020, is widely known for Juno, Inception, Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, among other hit projects.
