Peacemaker BTS Clip Shows How the Iconic Opening Sequence Was Made

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste of what went into the making of Peacemaker’s unskippable opening sequence?

Well, DC has now released a behind-the-scenes video that shows the cast working with choreographer Charissa Barton on the day they filmed the dance sequence.

Peacemaker might have the best possible intro out of all the superhero shows we’ve got so far. Not only is it effortlessly funny, but also is set to Wig Wam’s Do Ya Wanna Taste It, which is extremely hard to get out of your head once it’s stuck there.

As Barton explains it, the moves are rooted in modern dance combined with Street Style and inspired by icons like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

The clip has footage from the cast’s rehearsal during the COVID-19 pandemic, wearing masks and in sync with each other. Unlike the final take, thankfully, they don’t have a deadpan look on their faces during the rehearsals.

The sequence was filmed in one day in a high school auditorium. Chukwudi Iwuji added that the dance is meant to reflect the rigid, angular moments that we see in comic books in the way superheroes/villains pose and move.

The video also shows how John Cena was able to effortlessly lift Nhut Le’s Judomaster on his shoulders with the help of a harness that was removed in post. As Eagly didn’t bother showing up, they just had to CGI everyone’s favorite side-kick later on.

James Gunn uploaded a rough sketch of the final pose on Twitter, demonstrating his drawing skills and his vision for how he wanted Eagly to pose.

While talking to Rolling Stone, Gunn revealed that he wanted to make an opening credits scene that could “vanquish” the Skip Intro button.

People work really hard on these things, and you want the audience to be paying attention when their names go by. Having the viewers do that for all eight episodes would make it well worth doing what we did.

As Episode 4 ended with Murn’s unexpected twist, the promo clip for the upcoming Episode 5 promises more drama, action, and butterflies awaiting the team.
