Peacemaker Meets His Team and Gets an Assignment in Series Teaser

John Cena’s Peacemaker has to make do with his new team in the latest teaser for the HBO Max series.

With James Gunn lending his mastery to yet another DC project, the series will see Cena reprise his role as Christopher Smith, freshly recovering from his big fight with Bloodsport at Jotunheim.

As seen in the post-credit scene of The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker will have some familiar faces on his team, alongside a new entry.

The new clip sees Chukwudi Iwuji’s Clemson Murn introducing Peacemaker to his workmates to whom he has to correspond on his upcoming missions. The team in question includes Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt, his handler in the field, who gives him a proper greeting with half a smile and a middle finger.

Then comes Steve Agee’s John Economos, who will be running “tech and tactics,” along with Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo, a new recruit who handles almost everything else for the team. My bet is on Leota being Peacemaker’s makeshift therapist when his daddy issues start resurfacing.

Given his experience working on Project Starfish – Peacemaker is bound to have some concerns. He asks if this new op, titled Project Butterfly, means he has to fight against a Mothra (a giant divine moth kaiju). But even that is something our antihero can make peace with as long as he has a jetpack.

However, the operation’s a lot less glamorous than that. All Peacemaker has to do is kill “bad people.” But hey, it doesn’t matter how many men, women, and children he has to kill as long as the end result is peace, right?

As Murn reminds Peacemaker that he has only served 4 out of his 30-year sentence and still has the exploding chip in his brain that was inserted when he was working for Amanda Waller. So technically, Peacemaker has no choice but to work for them.

This isn’t the whole team, though. Peacemaker will also have Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante accompany him. And how can we forget the star of the series – Peacemaker’s pet bald eagle, Eagly.

A few hours ago, Gunn also revealed the first look at Nhut Le’s Judomaster, one of the “butterflies” that Christopher and co. will go after in the series.

Judomaster is a legacy name often used by martial artist superheroes. Initially created in 1965, the first one to take on the mantle was Ripley “Rip” Jagger, followed by his son Thomas “Tommy” Jagger and a female Judomaster, Sonia Sato.

Fans were quick to point out how Judomaster looked a lot like T.D.K., who was blown up when the crew landed on Corto Maltese at the beginning of TSS.
