Peaky Blinders Season 6 Episode 3 Recap
Ruby’s sudden decline in health causes alarm in the Shelby household. At the Sanitorium, the doctors diagnose her with tuberculosis. However, Tommy is still paranoid that her illness is caused by a gypsy curse that was put on them as a result of his misdeeds throughout the years. Lizzie tries to stay strong for both of them and tries to focus on how they should be going forward with her medical treatment.
Tommy decides to call in his sister Ada, to take his place with Shelby’s dealings while he goes on a quest to find a cure to the curse. Ada does a magnificent job taking his place and holds her own when the diabolical Lady Diana Mitford makes snarky digs at her. Upon Jack Nelson and Gina’s arrival, questions are raised about Tommy’s absence from such an important meeting. Ada reminds them that even Nelson lost his siblings to consumption and Tommy is simply being a good father. She invites them for a meeting at Tommy’s mansion to discuss their future plans.
Meanwhile, Tommy makes a journey across the plains in his quest to locate Esme. Despite her own grievances with Tommy, she decides to help him. She discovers the curse possibly originates from the sapphire necklace that had been stolen from the Russians. Tommy had given it to a gypsy, who lost her child at the same age as Ruby. After he finds the ‘antidote’ he rushes back to the Sanitorium, only to find that his precious daughter had succumbed to her illness and passed away.
