Bridget Regan’s Poison Ivy is Batwoman Season 3’s Main Villain

It has been confirmed that Bridget Regan’s Poison Ivy will have a major story arc in Batwoman Season 3.

In Season 2, we see Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) take over as Batwoman. Despite it being her first stint as the vigilante, Wilder does remarkably well — even managing to rescue former Batwoman Kate Kane and giving bad guys a run for their money.

However, happy endings are only temporary as the Season 2 finale not only hinted more turmoil for Batwoman’s personal history with her biological mother but also planted the seeds of a new villain in the form of Poison Ivy’s vines covering the screen before cutting to black.

The new season is set to premiere in just a few days on October 13. And I know, I know, we’re all wondering when will the show reveal a first glimpse at Poison Ivy.

While we wait, showrunner Caroline Dries pacifies us by letting us in on Poison Ivy’s role in the new season. As one of DC’s prominently established antagonists, the show has a lot of Poison Ivy canon comic book storylines to borrow from.

I’m super excited about the Poison Ivy storyline. There’s a huge facet of it that we haven’t revealed to the press that will be really fun for the audience to participate in. We do a combination of staying true to the Poison Ivy canon and what we normally do, which is put our own spin on it. It’s a major story arc of the season, and we make it really, really hard on Batwoman.

Interestingly, Poison Ivy has always had an obsession with Batman because he was one of the few who did not succumb to her lethal attacks and toxic fumes. In Batwoman, Bruce Bane is slightly AWOL, and it is yet to be seen if this ever comes into play with Poison Ivy’s storyline and her villainous involvement with Gotham city.

Poison Ivy’s entry in Season 3 means we will also be saying hello to Bridget Regan, who will be taking up the role. Fans are over the moon to see the actor back on their screens, especially noting that Regan was a popular fan choice for Poison Ivy for quite a few years!

But oh no, Poison Ivy isn’t the only trouble expected in town, as Amitai Marmostein will also be joining Batwoman this season as Mad Hatter. It is also expected that we see some of Penguin too, as foreshadowed by the appearance of his infamous umbrella in Season 2.

Batwoman certainly will have a lot of her hands in Season 3! Don’t forget to watch the premiere, October 13.
