Miles Teller Shares Promising Update about Top Gun 3

After the tremendous success of Top Gun: Maverick, actor Miles Teller shares a promising update about a potential sequel to the film.

Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise as Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, had been in the making for 36 years before finally releasing in 2022. The film then went on to become a massive box-office success and shattered records.

The film is officially Tom Cruise’s highest grossing film ever and also the highest grosser of 2022 so far, beating out both DC and Marvel films. After such tremendous success, a sequel is naturally expected to be made.

In an interview with ET Online, Miles Teller, who played Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in the film, gave a promising update about a potential sequel. He shared that he has had “conversations” with Tom Cruise about a potential Top Gun 3.

The actor spoke of the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick and how it will help “future negotiations” for his career. However, he also mentioned that although it is a good idea, it is all up to Tom Cruise.

“That would be great, but that’s all up to TC. It’s all up to Tom. I’ve been having some conversations with him about it. We’ll see.”

Teller also spoke of how grateful he is to Tom Cruise for giving him an opportunity to be a part of the world of Top Gun. Speaking of Cruise, he said,

“For him to share Top Gun with me and a lot of these other young actors, to bring us into that world has just been such a wild ride and it’s still going.”

The audience is still going to theaters to watch Top Gun: Maverick, despite some big releases, including Thor: Love and Thunder. The film does not have a streaming release date as of yet either.

A sequel would certainly take time to develop. Moreover, producer Jerry Bruckheimer also previously mentioned that there are no “immediate plans” for making Top Gun 3.

It took decades for Top Gun: Maverick to actually happen. But after the massive success of the film, Hollywood will expect to see Cruise return with another successful sequel much sooner. Though Maverick is now out of the Navy, there’s surely a lot of the story left to tell.
