Whenever someone says Indiana Jones, I only get two things on my mind. Needless to say, the first is Harrison Ford, but the second is the background score. Perhaps one of the most popular scores of that time.
Fun fact for the ones who haven’t been introduced to the franchise yet. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg came together to create this epic character called Indiana Jones and the films around him.
George Lucas is most popularly known for giving us the OG Star Wars franchise and Steven Spielberg is known for giving us cult entertainment films like Jurassic Park, Jaws, E.T., Schindler’s List and many more.
Indiana Jones is the OG Tomb Raider and when I say OG I mean it literally. The first Tomb Raider game that came out in 1996 with Lara Croft as the protagonist was inspired by Indiana Jones.
So if you haven’t watched the franchise yet, now is the time because IndianaJones’s next installment will release soon next year. I know you’re wondering what’s the order, where to watch it, etc. I got you all with this watch order guide for Indiana Jones.
The Indiana Jones franchise consists of four films so far and has a reasonably straightforward timeline. The series can be watched in release order or even as standalone films. A fifth film installment is all set to release in 2022 July.
Watch Order | Release Order
- Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
- Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
While you can watch the films in the release order itself, there’s just one little catch. According to the timeline in the series, the events of Temple of Doom occur before Raiders of the Lost Ark. However, you can watch it in any order you prefer, and it’d all feel the same.
Run-Time And Binge Duration
Since this is a pretty small franchise in terms of the number of films, the total run-time is around 8 hours. So you can easily binge this either on a weekend night with zero sleep or on a Sunday. I mean, who needs plans when you’re meeting Indiana Jones and following his adventures.
Where To Watch
You can watch all the four Indiana Jones films on Amazon Prime. If you do not have a Prime subscription, you could always rent it from the same platform or even rent it on Google Play. You’ll get each film for about $3.99.
I think Indiana Jones is one of those franchises that anybody should definitely watch to witness how pathbreaking the character, the storyline, and the entire plot premise was. It’s one of those films that might not leave you in awe today, but you’d know the brilliance from which so many films were inspired by.
But more than anything else, even today, the background gives me goosebumps. Add that with the humorous but rugged persona of Indiana Jones, and I’m down to see him any time, any place. Well, why are you still here? Do you want me to give you spoilers, or will you watch the franchise? Alright, happy bingeing!
