How To Watch S.W.A.T. Franchise Easy Watch Order Guide

If you’re a 90s kid, there’s a chance you’d have encountered this action-drama film series and even watched it as a kid. With stars such as Samuel Jackson, Colin Farell, and Michelle Rodriguez, this movie was the perfect popcorn entertainer that stylized and commercialized the cops-on-a-mission genre.

However, the film series didn’t age that well over the years, and if you watch it today, you might find it all cliché. But the film did everything cliché before it was so. But there’s more. The film was inspired by a TV series of the same name that came out in 1975. In 2017, S.W.A.T. TV series inspired by the movie of the 2000s was released.

So if you’re a fan of the franchise or curious to check out this action-drama series and wondering what’s the best order to watch it all. Well, I’m here to your rescue. Here’s the complete S.W.A.T. watch order.

The S.W.A.T. franchise has two standalone series that include a film trilogy and a TV show. Both of these are inspired by the original show that aired in 1975. Overall, the timeline is pretty linear, and all of these can be watched in the release order itself.

The franchise can be divided into three segments. The first is the original show, the second is the film trilogy, and the third is the modern TV series. However, the three aren’t connected and can be watched as standalone series. Furthermore, the film and the modern show aren’t a reboot either. The only thread connecting all three is the framework and premises are similar.

So, while you can choose to watch them all in any order, it is best to watch them in their release order. This is for my two main reasons. Over time, the quality of content decreases, and you find everything to feel the same and repetitive. So it’s best to catch the originals first.

The second reason is that if you watch the original show and films and get enough of them, you can shift to something else at any point. Starting with the modern series wouldn’t be a great idea since it wouldn’t add anything to your experience.

S.W.A.T. as a franchise might not be relevant in today’s time, but it’d be a good watch to see how it all came together back in 1975 and even in the first film. So those are definitely worth a binge. Happy bingeing!
