If you’ve heard of the movie Gone Girl or the show Big Little Lies, you know they tell good stories with quality production. And the company behind it is none other than Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.

I started this company to change the way all women are seen in media. I am committed to continuing to create opportunity for filmmakers, authors, and creators of all backgrounds and experiences to tell their stories in their own way and to reach more audiences who will see that their stories matter.

I’m going to double down on that mission to hire more female creators from all walks of life and showcase their experiences. This is a meaningful move in the world because it really means that women’s stories matter.

Hello Sunshine was founded as a joint venture with AT&T’s Otter Media. The company also has the popular Reese’s Book Club and has recently dipped its toes into podcasts and family entertainment.

Harden told Variety

I’m thrilled with this new structure and what it means for us going forward. We have an incredibly ambitious growth agenda ahead.

Harden

As Hello Sunshine will still look to partner with outside studios and distributors on producing its content, Harden added,

I certainly would anticipate that all of the partners we work with now we will continue to work on. For us, we’ll continue to focus on defining those platform-defining shows. And we’re focused not just on what we do but how we do it.

We’re intentionally working to change and transform this industry, creating opportunities for creators who have been structurally side-lined for decades.

Harden

Hello Sunshine’s upcoming slate includes adaptations of popular novels, Where The Crawdads Sing and Amazon series Daisy Jones and The Six, Kin, From Scratch, A White Lie, Legally Blonde 3, among others.
