Rise of the Beasts Artwork Discloses Bumblebee and Optimus Prime Designs

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was announced in June 2021 and will serve as a sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee, resetting the story in the 1990s. Classic characters from the Beast Wars incarnation of the Transformers franchise will be featured in the movie, including the Maximals, the Predacons, and the Terrorcons.

The movie is directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed 2) and features Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah).

Additionally, it has been confirmed that Peter Cullen will reprise the iconic role of Optimus Prime. The original release date for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was June 24, 2022. However, the film was delayed to June 9, 2023, almost a whole year later.

Despite the film still being a year away, it feels right that some of the main robots were revealed so close to the film’s original release date.

A fan-run Transformers news website, Allspark.com, posted an image of promotional artwork and merchandise for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The artwork depicts Bumblebee and Optimus Primal, leaders of the Maximals factions. Bumblebee’s appearance is reminiscent of his depiction in the original film series, as it appears he has Camaro parts on him. Meanwhile, Optimus Primal retains his gorilla fur from the original Beast Wars line as his alternate form is a gorilla.

Paramount’s decision to prominently feature Optimus Primal in the movie’s promotional materials makes sense, given that he was a fan favorite during the original Beast Wars run.

Ron Perlman has been cast as the voice of Optimus Primal, and so far, he is the only new Transformers character that has a voice confirmed.

The marketing department will have an interesting task of explaining to general audiences that Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal are two different characters.

It is still possible that the marketing campaign for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will commence soon, given that filming wrapped up in October 2021. The first Transformers trailer was released a year in advance, accompanying the 2006 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest film. In contrast, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen did not release a trailer until February 2009, just four months before its release.

As the fifteenth anniversary of the first live-action Transformers movie is approaching, it would be a great opportunity for Paramount Pictures to provide the audience with its first glimpse of Transformers: Rise of the Beast.
