Riverdale S6 Starts Production With Showrunner Teasing New Plots

Everyone’s favorite Archie-turned-dark show Riverdale has commenced its season 6 production.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared season 6’s production news with incredibly huge plot developments on his Instagram. The CW show went from being a let’s-try-it-out to quickly being one of the best teen TV series since the past few years.

Ongoing season 5 of Riverdale already has multiple unexpected plotlines – where the characters go up against gangs, drugs, and all dark adventures one could think of, of being in a teen drama. However, season 6, as Aguirre-Sacasa teases, will end up with something quite unthinkable.

The showrunner teased an ominous cherry blossom tree. It blooms with all its might on one side, and lies barren with branches signaling an upcoming storm on the other.

His caption is the most captivating. Taking the Good vs. Evil theme up by many levels, fans can expect “the ultimate battle” characters will have to go through, in Riverdale’s season 6.

He builds up curiosity as he adds – “But who will stand on which side? And who will live, and who will die? Everything has been a prelude to this,” with a string of emojis such as fire, thunder, death, hamburger, money, jewels, and more.

Whatever season 6 holds, fans can be sure that it will be extremely dramatic. With season 5 now back with its mid-season hiatus, the finale is slated to air in October. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long for the dramatic season 6, as it’s scheduled to debut on November 16.

How much dark and strange can an already dark teen show get? Fans have already experienced a taste of it and will get more as season 5 concludes.

In an interview with Decider, Aguirre-Sacassa was extremely excited and proud of some of his episodes in season 5, describing them as “really, really special.”

The biggest thing is excitement for the fans to watch these episodes, they’re some of the best we’ve done, they’re some of our strangest episodes, and they’re going to provide a lot of answers to a lot of questions fans have had… I mean, they’re really, really special.

Riverdale’s season 6 will also continue the emotional relationships and friendships that viewers see in the ongoing season. Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica’s stories have tangled up even more, primarily due to the seven-year time leap.

With incredible plotlines already included in season 5, fans need to gear up for an ultimate boss fight between Good and Evil, taking sides, and much more for season 6.

About Riverdale

Based on a story from the popular Archies Comics, the 2017 Netflix drama Riverdale is centered on an innocent, small town of the same name.

It follows a group of high school students who are shocked by the death of a classmate, Jason Blossom. Together they unravel the secrets of Riverdale and who killed Jason.

Cole Sprouse’s grungy Jughead is the show’s narrator and school reporter who almost acts like its ‘Gossip Girl’ — documenting the characters’ lives and filling in the blanks for us.
