Olsen Wants Redemption for her MCU Character Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen wants to see her character from the MCU aka Scarlet Witch redeemed after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She shares the sentiments of fans of the MCU in this case.

Olsen has received widespread praise for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff since her debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and her recent Disney+ series WandaVision has been a great success.

However, the decision to turn her character from a wounded antihero to a villain in Doctor Strange 2 has caused controversy, with many fans worried that they may not see Scarlet Witch again in the future.

During her appearance at SXSW to promote her new show Love & Death on HBO Max, Olsen offered her perspective on where Wanda Maximoff stands in the MCU.

She had earlier hinted that Scarlet Witch would return in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. However, it’s still unclear which version of Wanda we will see next and what course her storyline will take, leaving the Marvel creators with a lot of options to explore.

Read what Olsen had to say on the matter:

We can do anything with her now! I feel like we’ve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her. She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.

The first episodes of WandaVision were hailed as highly creative, as they portrayed Wanda’s coping with Vision’s death through different fictional worlds inspired by classic sitcoms.

In Doctor Strange 2, her grief reaches new heights as she searches for her imagined children in a quest that could have disastrous consequences for the universe. Despite her villainous turn, many believe that Wanda’s character needs redemption to fully conclude her arc.

The MCU has been in existence since 2008, and some of its original heroes have either retired or died. Although Phase Four did a decent job of introducing new super-powered individuals, the franchise is at its best when it gives established characters a satisfying send-off.

As there is still a version of Vision in the current MCU, Wanda can find solace by reuniting with him and either starting over with him or bidding a final farewell to her loved ones.

In addition, Olsen has expressed her desire for Wanda to showcase her comedic talents. During her performance in WandaVision, the actress demonstrated her ability to deliver humorous moments, and teaming up with Agatha again in Coven of Chaos would undoubtedly be a winning combination.

It’s evident that Scarlet Witch’s narrative must extend beyond The Multiverse of Madness, not just for the character’s sake but also for the overall MCU.
