Scream’s Red Carpet Premiere Cancelled Due to Covid-19 3rd Wave

Scream has canceled its red carpet premiere scheduled for January 11 due to the recent surge of Covid-19 cases.

Attendees for the red carpet premiere included directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett alongside franchise faces Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette, who reprise their role as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley, respectively, from the previous movies.

Of course, the younger cast playing the new teens in the movie were also expected to be present.

However, fans can rest assured that the movie will still have its cinematic release on January 14, while press and radio-promoted screenings will take place as scheduled.

The third wave of the pandemic has caused the Sundance Film festival to go virtual, while the Grammys 2022 has been postponed indefinitely. A few other titles have also slashed their red carpet premiers, including Peacemaker, The Book of Boba Fett, and How I Met Your Father, which were all located in Los Angeles.

This is a sound decision, given how experts have not only stated that the Omicron variant is more contagious than others but also that we’re heading towards the peak of the third wave.

This is going to be the fifth entry into the Scream franchise but has been positioned as a relaunch (even though it does continue directly from the events of the 2014 movie).

Slasher films have been regaining momentum in recent months, and it is super interesting to see how Scream will perform amidst all the anticipation!

Scream 2022 will feature a new set of teens getting terrorized by a Ghostface masked killer once again, who wishes to unearth Woodsboro’s dangerous secrets. Campbell, Cox, and Arquette return to help solve the case, thanks to their extensive experience.

As someone who hides under covers while watching horror, I must say that trailer left me both, petrified and craving for more:
