Season 4 of ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Sees June on a Dangerous Journey

The season 4 trailer of The Handmaid’s Tale has been released, confirming the upcoming season’s official premiere date. Based on Margaret Atwood’s renowned dystopian novel of the same name, the series has been a hit amongst audiences ever since it came out in 2017.

The series has also been nominated for many awards, winning 8 Primetime Emmys. Starring Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, the story follows her life in a totalitarian state called Gilead. Other cast includes Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, and Ann Dowd, who collectively give outstanding performances.

Season 4, which has been much anticipated, will premiere on Wednesday, April 28. It will have 10 episodes as usual and pick up from where the story left off in season 3.

The previous season saw June escape from the clutches of Gilead and join the secret resistance. From being a mere surrogate, she turns into a revolutionary in no matter of time and helps many women and children escape to Canada. However, in the process, she gets shot. Fellow handmaids who find her injured in the forest take her to safety, but the story doesn’t unveil whether she survived or not.

The trailer for the upcoming season, which sees June on the run, focuses on her life as a rebel. Her insurgency has led to Aunt Lydia sending troops for her capture. Furthermore, the trailer also sees June becoming a powerful leader amongst her fellow rebels and inspiring other handmaids to fight against Gilead. Many shots also feature Nick, the Waterfords, and Commander Lawrence, who believe that June could wage a war.

Fans who have been waiting for the show rejoiced at the confirmation of its premiere date, as it means that the new season is due soon. Moreover, the action sequences and the dramatic scenes shown in the trailer promise an exhilarating season ahead. The new season, which will also add new cast members, includes The Haunting of Hill House star Mckenna Grace, who will have a recurring role as Mrs. Keyes, the intelligent wife of an older commander.

Season 4, which will chart June’s development as a rebel to the leader of the revolution, could also give a peek into the crumbling future of Gilead, which might not survive what’s to come. The upcoming season will premiere on Hulu.
