Maya Hawke Promises ‘Stranger Things’ S04 Will Be worth the Wait

Robin (Maya Hawke) unveiled the hood revealing that the wait for Season 4 of Stranger Things will be worth it. This news comes after having resumed production, which was halted in 2020 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In a recent interview with Collider, Maya proclaimed that the delay allowed the Duffer brothers to thoroughly transmogrify the script. She said:

“I’m not allowed to tell you when we finish filming, but I can tell you that, though it’s been forever, because we’ve had so much time, the level of effort, interest, and detail that the Duffer brothers have had the time to put into these scripts, and that the actors have had the time to think about their characters, it is gonna be awesome”

Maya thinks that some of the new episodes are, in fact, the best of what the series has to offer. Earlier, in July 2020, Natalie Dyer, who plays Nancy in the show, had shared with The Hollywood Reporter:

“Normally, we get the first few scripts, and then they have to keep writing due to the schedule of it. And it takes a while to craft a script. So, normally, there’s a kind of “writing as we’re going.” But it seems they’ve had enough time.”

In this part, Dyer is talking about the Duffer brothers, who had finished writing the Season 4 scripts by then. Not only that, they also added a ninth episode to a previously planned season consisting of eight episodes.

Season 3 of Stranger Things ended with Jim Hopper sacrificing himself to defeat the Mind Flayer. We could see Joyce moving out of town, with Jonathan, Will, and a devastated Eleven in tow.

A bonus finale scene, set in Kamchatka, Russia could be seen at the end of Season 3. It showed guards in prisons being ordered to feed a prisoner to their captive Demogorgon, but with a strict instruction, “Not the American”.

Fans had speculated that the American in question would be Jim Hopper. Back in February 2020, a teaser was released which showed our beloved Jim Hopper alive, and bald. The Netflix press release back them read:

“We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway—and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our “American”; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other.”

The new teasers, released on May 6, also explored the possibility that more kids with superpowers, like Eleven and Kali, might be introduced in Season 4. A potential plot point could also be the process through which Eleven gains her powers back.

Eight new cast members had also been welcomed in November 2020. All these movements potentially suggest we can hope for a trailer soon enough.
