‘Lucifer’ Season 5 Part 2 Trailer: Lucifer To Be the New God?

Netflix finally dropped the trailer for Lucifer Season 5B, which premieres on 28 May, and there’s a whole lot of things to unpack here.

Season 5A ended with the arrival of God and that’s where the trailer picks it up. The whole trailer seems to set up a big fight among the Angels. The reason behind this big fight is that God has decided to “retire” and Lucifer, the Devil himself, expresses that he wants to be God and correct all the things his father got wrong.

Hopefully, Remiel and Azrael appear this season on Lucifer’s side in the Battle of the Angels. It’s a possibility that Michael will use the fact that Lucifer killed Uriel to get all the other Angels on his side. It’s safe to assume that the Angels already have a dislike for the Fallen Angel as his reputation proceeds him.

Another highlight of the trailer is the last line where Lucifer says, “If I ever said those three words to you, it would be a lie,” and it seems that he is saying it to Chloe. But trailers often misguide the audience to create a buzz and get the fans talking about it.

Hopefully, the three words mean something like, ‘I forgive you,’ to be said to his father, as in the beginning, he mentions to God that they need to fix their relationship so that Lucifer can get over his daddy issues and have a real relationship with Chloe. Amenadiel remarks that they have the most dysfunctional family and Lucifer is also seen taking God to therapy.

TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich reported, “The DNR (Do Not Reveal) list for the Season 5B screeners is pretty extensive, but I am confident that I can say that while you will have to wait for the resolution to their time-stopped conversation about the L-word, you won’t have to wait very long.’

The trailer leaves us with so many questions. Why does Michael have the flaming sword if Lucifer was supposed to be the only one who could light it up? A Los Angeles County Sheriff bus is seen crashing down a hill; could Linda be the major character that gets killed off this season as she is seen in handcuffs in one of the shots? What will happen to Deckerstar?

The trailer seems to maintain the show’s charm and light-heartedness, while also making it seem like serious business. There are a lot of things going on to be covered in just 8 episodes, considering the fact that 1 episode is going to be a musical, and so the plot will hardly progress in that episode.

We hope they don’t rush it just for the sake of tying loose ends and introduce a bunch of concepts all at once to set up the final season. Netflix has already announced that Season 6 will be the last, and will consist of 10 episodes. In fact, some of the cast members also posted about having wrapped up filming already.
