Sex Education S4 to Come out in 2023 Minus Another Series Regular

Popular Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education has lost yet another series regular before the release of Season 4 in 2023. Tanya Reynolds, who plays Lily Iglehart, will be exiting the show following her fellow cast member Patricia Allison’s (Ola Nyman) farewell.

The Netflix series has seen immense critical and public success during its three seasons, and ever since the cliffhanger in the Season 3 finale, fans have been waiting on further updates on Season 4.

The show following the lives of students, teachers, and parents of Moordale High will be moving their dramatic lifestyles to another set after Moordale High shuts down at the end of Season 3.

The show’s themes and mature treatment of overlooked matters such as an individual’s sexuality, women’s rights, and more have led the series to the heights of success.

Another factor adding to the show’s uniqueness is the characters and the manner they are portrayed on the screen. One such lovable character was Lily, but following Tanya Reynold’s departure from the show, who’s to say how fans will react.

Tanya Reynolds shared with RadioTimes her view on her character being written off in the show. She explained that the writers needed space for new characters after the shift to a new school, making way for both familiar and new faces in the cast.

It’s just the natural progression of these shows—when you have such big ensemble casts and so many characters, I think you have to let a few older characters go to make way for newer ones, which is absolutely the right thing, the way it should happen.

Reynolds is happy with how her character got the chance to explore her problems and find herself amid her turmoil in Season 3, getting her time to shine. Reynolds discloses that the writers have given a very logical explanation for Lily’s goodbye to Moordale and the friends she made there.

In a couple of months, fans have had to say goodbye to two series regulars, Reynolds’ exit following that of Patricia Wilson, who played Ola Nyman. The change to a new school may equal more exits, clearing the path for new characters.

It has already been confirmed that two new characters have been added to the Season 4 cast list, the new school’s power couple, Abbi and Kent, representing the trans community in the show, something that has been missing in the sex-forward and broad-minded show.

With filming starting in July, viewers can soon expect more information and updates about the cast list, plot details, and more.
