Shang-Chi Prepares For Theatrical Release With New ‘Power’ Trailer

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has a new thirty-second TV spot trailer/teaser titled ‘Power’ as the Marvel Studio prepares for the film’s theatrical release in September.

The clip gives fans a glimpse at some dragons in the movie. But they’re not just any ordinary dragons, they’re flaming dragons, completely on fire as they soar through the sky.

The two flaming dragons can be seen flying through what seems like the mythical city that Jiang Li serves as the guardian of. Shang-Chi previously came face to face with The Great Protector underwater in the official full-length trailer.

One of the comic covers shows the superhero with a similar illustration, so it is possible that either he controls the dragons or acquires his powers via the dragons.

The clip ends with Shang-Chi teaching Awkwafina’s Katy the right way to pronounce his name, so if you need a how-to guide, you can watch the Power teaser below.

Plot details are heavily under wraps, but we know the basics. As gathered from the trailers, Shang Chi has to deal with his daddy issues along with the trials and tribulations that come with being a powerful superhero.

An old synopsis by Marvel Studios read, “Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”

With the Mandarin being introduced as Shang-Chi’s father Wenwu, who runs the Ten Rings organization along with Death Dealer also being one of the film’s villains, one can expect a lot of tough challenges for the superhero.

Shang-Chi will mark the first Chinese superhero entry into the MCU and introduce Simu Liu as the newest superhero with a predominantly Asian cast.

The project was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 and pushed back a few times due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will also be the first film since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home in the franchise to get an exclusive theatrical release.
