Episode 9 of Shrinking depicts our lovable characters taking big steps in their lives. Jimmy starts to say goodbye to Tia while improving his relationship with Alice, and Sean pays off his dues and asks Liz to invest in his catering business. Gaby rejects Nico despite his forward hints, and Paul chooses family over work; the priorities of these characters are clearer than ever.
The next episode is titled “Closure,” but considering we have another season of the show coming soon, it might not be the ultimate conclusion. What can we expect from the season 1 finale of Shrinking?
1. Episode 10 Synopsis/Speculation
As Brian’s wedding approaches, Alice takes issue with how Jimmy is living his life. Liz learns a secret.
Alice’s sense of betrayal after Jimmy failed to involve her in Tia’s birthday is justified. But I have a hunch that they’ll work it out in a way that Alice will finally get the closure she needs to start moving on without feeling guilty.
Jimmy hasn’t gotten the hang of his speech without bursting into tears, and if he can’t do so by the next episode, Brian will face his biggest fear of losing control. Gaby and Jimmy’s chemistry has been on point so far, and she might provide him with the advice he needs to hack his task.
Sean and Liz may have joined hands in the catering business, but the next episode might give her a reason to reconsider. What secret could she possibly find out?
Paul may have chosen family over work for once, but the permanent decision is yet to be made. Odds are he’ll choose to move in with Meg’s family, but what do you think?

5. Episode 9 Recap
The three therapists learn from their patients for once. Jimmy sorts through Tia’s stuff after going to spread ashes with a patient, and Gaby understands she needs to evaluate her relationship with Nico and apologizes for her meltdown. Paul’s patient advises him not to overthink about his life ending and just receive the lifetime achievement award, adding he should invite Meg to make amends.
Alice’s grounding balances her relationship with her father, who can’t get through Brian’s officiant speech yet. Gaby finds out Paul has been sleeping with Julie, his doctor, and suggests he take Julie to the event.
Paul asks Meg to the event, but his daughter complains about how he is putting work before family again since he wants to attend his ceremony over Mason’s play. Meanwhile, when Gaby apologizes, Nico confesses it was Gaby in the painting and asks her if they can rekindle their relationship.
The viewers get a scare when we find her in bed directly after, but she sleeps with Jimmy instead and thanks him for saving her from an awful mistake. Sean works with his father to pay rent, but Alice urges him to work on his catering idea.
He asks Liz if she’d like to invest, and Derek accepts in her stead, despite Liz being hurt over Sean’s rejection of her help in the decision-making side of the business. Paul asks Julie out on the weekend and ditches the award ceremony for Mason’s play.
Jimmy takes off his wedding ring and dances with Alice, but the mood soon turns sour when Alice realizes she’s missed her mother’s birthday and storms off after blaming her father for not reminding her.
