‘Snyder Cut’ Might Be the Only Justice League Movie by Zack Snyder

Zack Snyder has put all speculations to rest about Justice League getting a sequel—at least, a sequel which he would direct. He has mentioned in a recent interview that Warner Bros. has shown no interest in making Justice League 2 with him as the director. This would mean that the Snyder Cut would be the end of Snyder’s relationship with the DCEU.

The news that WB is not interested in a Snyder Cut part 2 is not surprising. Nearly four years ago, Zack walked away from the production of Justice League due to personal and production problems. Joss Whedon took over the film in the post-production stage, and the film released to majorly negative reviews. Fans have been petitioning for the Snyder Cut to be released ever since.

However, it wasn’t until late last year that a concrete plan to launch the film came into place. Since the franchise has run into a lot of PR trouble, the Snyder Cut is a plan to remedy that. Adding another $70 million to its production value, Snyder finished his idea for the movie, which is set to premiere on HBO Max on March 18.

Now, the director has revealed in an interview with I Minutemen that Warner Bros. has not given any indication that a second part for Justice League is on the cards, especially with him at the helm. He said:

“The reality is, as far as I know, there’s no interest and/or appetite to do more of these movies from Warner Bros. With me, anyway. But I didn’t think making this, finishing this film correctly would ever happen. But I did do my best to—as far as the creation of the Justice League, those different personalities being brought together—that idea, that’s what this movie is about.

It is possible that the release of the Snyder Cut will change the situation. After all, it was the fans’ request that ultimately resulted in the movie seeing the light of day. There are already a lot of expectations riding on it, and if it manages to exceed them and end on a cliffhanger, a sequel would definitely be likely.

What do you think? Would you like to see more Justice League movies, or see DC move on to other comics?
