Updated Release Dates of Seven Upcoming Sony Movies Revealed

Sony Pictures have revealed the updated release dates of seven upcoming movies, scheduled to release across 2022, 2023, and 2024, including an untitled Spider-Man spinoff. Sony has been developing several films related to Spider-Man, including Kraven the Hunter, a film revolving around the titular Spider-Man villain.

After the re-opening of theaters, Sony Pictures has been gaining massive success with its recent theatrical releases. Though films like Morbius did not see success at the box-office, the studio has enjoyed several successful releases, including Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and the Marvel Studios co-production Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Sony Pictures recently reshuffled some of the release dates of its upcoming films and confirmed several projects slated to release in 2022 and 2024. The studios reshuffled the release dates for five films and announced two new projects. Check out the full list here.

  • George Tillman Jr.’s untitled George Foreman biopic moved up to March 31, 2023.
  • Sam Raimi-produced sci-fi drama 65 moved from April 14 to April 28, 2023.
  • Madame Webb, Spider-Man spinoff, moved from July to October 6, 2023.
  • Currently untitled Spider-Man spinoff delayed from October 6, 2023, to June 7, 2024.
  • Russell Crowe-led supernatural thriller The Pope’s Exorcist to release on April 7, 2023.
  • Horror sequel Insidious 5 to release on July 7, 2023.

The Spider-Man spinoff, Madame Webb, just began production this month. Recent photos from the sets in Boston offered new insight to fans about the locations where the film will be shot.

The movie will star Dakota Johnson, and early images feature props such as payphones, advertisements of Beyonce’s debut album, “Dangerously in Love,” and various newspaper boxes, hinting that the film would be set in the early 2000s.

After some major theatrical successes, Sony Pictures remains confident about its list of upcoming releases, especially for its major franchises.
