How Spock and Chapel’s Love Heats Up in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S2

Spock (Ethan Peck) and Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) reportedly heat up their romance in the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Spock remains the Science Officer of the USS Enterprise, and Chapel stays in Sickbay with Dr. Joseph M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun).

In season 1, Spock and Chapel’s growing feelings caused trouble with T’Pring (Gia Sandhu), Spock’s betrothed on Vulcan.

Jess Bush and Babs Olusanmokun spoke to Screen Rant at the Strange New Worlds season 2 press event. They were asked whether Spock and Nurse Chapel would act on their feelings. Here’s what they said:

Babs Olusanmokun: I just try and look away, really, but then try to be supportive as much as possible. It’s, you know, your workmates, so you’ve got to be respectful. Spock, hats off to you. Mr. Spock. (laughs)

Jess Bush: (laughs) It’s just gonna get really complicated. Let’s just say that. I have to keep it vague, but I can tell you that much. Complications intensify. Let’s say that.

Screen Rant: It seems like things between Chapel and Spock heat up in season 2. Can you talk a little bit about that, Jess? And Babs, for you, what’s it like for Joseph watching these two clearly have the hots for each other?

Spock and Chapel lock lips in the trailer for season 2 of Strange New Worlds. A puzzled Vulcan asks, “What does this mean?” Christine has no answer and tells him, “I don’t know. Shut up.”

It is a continuation of their previous kiss in season 1, episode 7, “The Serene Squall,” when they pretended to be lovers to trick Captain Angel (Jesse James Keitel), a space bandit who took over the Enterprise.

T’Pring saw the kiss and understood it was a ploy to regain the ship, but she didn’t know that Spock and Chapel had real feelings for each other, which unfolded after the kiss.

The two heat things up in season 2, too, and dive deeper into their star-crossed romance. However, Dr. M’Benga has to “look away” and be “supportive” of his friends, according to Babs Olusanmokun’s playful remarks.

Meanwhile, T’Pring is left in the dark about what’s happening between Spock and Chapel. However, we know from Star Trek: The Original Series that their Vulcan bond will end. Perhaps, the inevitable breakup starts in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2. Guess we will have to wait for that to unfold!
