Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 has a November Release

Hold on to your seats, Season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery is right around the corner, releasing November 18 exclusively on Paramount+

The streamer broke out the news on Star Trek Day, which was celebrated on September 8 with a lot of virtual fanfare.

Season 3 wrapped up with Michael Burnham (played by Soneque Martin-Greene) taking her place as captain of the USS Discovery.

Behind-the-scenes production did face delays with Season 4 due to Covid. But because Season 3 ended only in January this year, the wait doesn’t seem to be all that long, given a November premiere.

Here’s the official synopsis for Season 4:

Season four of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery facing a threat unlike any they’ve ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all.

The synopsis may sound vague but earlier reports did tease a “gravitational anomaly” that would send the crew’s mission haywire.

A teaser-trailer was also aired during Star Trek Day. It has not been publicly released on social media platforms, but you can watch the official first look video of Season 4 here.

The teaser shows several shots of the Discovery spacecraft sustaining damages that are beyond normal repair. And in order to ensure it doesn’t happen again, the crew will need to join hands with their stiff allies and get to the root cause of the problem.

It is yet to be seen if the season will have any other antagonists besides the non-human gravitational anomaly.

The exact number of episodes for Season 4 has not been released, but somewhere between 10-15 episodes would be a safe bet. Returning cast members are Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, David Ajala and Blu del Barrio.

A keen fan would’ve observed that many of Star Trek’s releases have fallen in November. Discovery’s November 18 release date being the same as 1994’s Star Trek: Generations may be just a coincidence, but a sweet one at that!
