Star Trek: Discovery Wraps Season 4 Filming And Speculation On S5

Star Trek: Discovery’s showrunner Michelle Paradise brings us fantastic news: Season 4 is now wrapped up… and it may not be the last time we see our favorite explorers in space.

In her tweet, Paradise thanks the cast and crew for the diligent work on set. With filming wrapped, the baton will now be passed over to post-production to do their magic. Have a look at the tweet:

Just as Season 3 began premiering on Paramount+ in fall, 202, Season 4’s production also simultaneously took off. Although in April this year, filming had to take a break due to the discovery of a Covid-19 case, it would resume in a timely order as scripts were all complete.

If the previous schedule is anything to go by, then Season 4 will premiere soon in the fall.

Post-production will also benefit from Paramount’s weekly release schedule that allows it to continue work even if all episodes are not ready before the season premiere.

After having defeated Emerald Chan, the fourth season will continue on the story of Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) in charge and his crew who venture into the 32nd century, with all-new threats awaiting them in S4.

One of the new challenges they will face is dealing with a massive gravitational anomaly that will disrupt their plans of restoring the Federation.

We are holding on to Paradise’s “Until next time…” quite tightly. The show performed well on the streamer and the story itself seems far from finished. The positive response for Season 3 (hailed as the show’s best yet) has certainly upped the stakes for S4.

Earlier, rumors were going around that Season 4 would the last of the series. Even though Season 5 has not been officially greenlit, it is highly possible that like last year, a confirmation may come in the early weeks of Season 4’s release.

Like the ever-expanding universe, the Star Trek franchise is also working on widening its turf with the soon-to-debut Strange New Worlds and Picard’s upcoming second season in 2022.
