After a particularly stressful and strenuous week, Freeman decides to take the engineering crew to a recreational station so they can rest and recuperate. However, the engineers keep tinkering with different projects instead of relaxing, which in turn causes Freeman’s stress levels to skyrocket.
Meanwhile, the lower deckers decide to use this opportunity to experience the bigger, more spacious living quarters of the higher deck officers.

The lower deckers’ bond will grow stronger as they continue to get out of tricky situations together. Rutherford proves himself yet again, gaining the crew’s respect.
Additionally, it’s likely that Mariner will reconsider her stance on her current position in Starfleet after seeing the possibility of more spacious quarters.
Freeman mentions that they have a mission with Carlsbad, so it’s likely we’ll see the ship and its crew again in the upcoming episodes.

5. Episode 4 Recap
As the lower deckers complain about their tightly cramped quarters, they’re interrupted by Captain Freeman passing by them after being possessed with the spirit of a demigod through an ancient mask.
A wave of energy passes through the hallway, turning part of the Cerritos into what resembles an ancient temple. The engineering crew becomes visibly fatigued after spending the week doing strenuous repair work.
Upon realizing this, Freeman sends the engineering crew on a mandatory recreational leave to a station named Dove. The rest of the crew remains on the ship.
Tendi learns that some of the junior officers intend to take advantage of this by moving into the larger quarters and decides that the lower deckers should beat them to the punch. However, Mariner and the group end up getting trapped in the vents by the alternate crew.

Created by Mike McMahan, Star Trek: Lower Decks is an adult animated science fiction series. It is the ninth Star Trek series that is part of Alex Kurtzman’s expanded Star Trek Universe.
Set in the late 24th Century, the show follows the adventures and missions of “lower deckers” or low ranking officers on one of Starfleet’s least important starships, the USS Cerritos.
The show premiered in August 6, 2020 on CBS All Access. It has been renewed for its fourth season in 2023.
