Star Trek: Picard Season 2 has arrived with Patrick Stewart’s Starfleet captain Jean-Luc Picard for another epic adventure and it embraces the grand history of Star Trek lore.
Similar to how Season 1 of Picard saw a lot of references to the franchise, Season 2 also acknowledges the previous titles and years-old events, including a tiny Spock reference revealed in behind-the-scenes images. (via Screenrant)
The premiere episode for this season had a hidden easter egg in the form of Spock’s book when Picard gave Romulan Elnor a copy of THE MANY AND THE ONE as a Starfleet Academy graduation present.
The attention to detail is praiseworthy as showrunner Terry Matalas later took to Twitter to reveal that the prop book’s contents were more than just blank pages and had actual writings inside, including a dedication to James T. Kirk.
Spock’s book in Star Trek Picard:
The Jim dedication stems from when Kirk proved his true friendship to Spock when he went on to find the supposedly-dead Vulcan on the Genesis Planet in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
The book also has a title page with the publishing house logo of Starfleet Academy at the bottom, complete with the copyrights page, similar to actual books.
Picard Season 2 also saw the return of Jean-Luc’s old friend Guinan and more troubling enemies like the Borg Queen and Q.
Titled Assimilated, Episode 3 preview establishes the Borg Queen’s terror as she takes over the ship while neutralizing threats by blasting them to flames.
