Plot

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the show creator, Tony Gilroy, spoke extensively about the show’s plot. Based on what he said and numerous other interviews, here’s what we know.

Star Wars: Andor will follow the story of Rogue One’s rebel leader, Cassian Andor. The show is set five years before A New Hope and some time after Revenge of the Sith. Season 1 will cover the first year, and Season 2 will span across the next four years.

Star Wars: Andor

If you remember Rogue One, you’ll know that Cassian Andor did not survive in the film. After Cassian and Jyn Erso stole the blueprints of the Empire’s first Death Star, they met their tragic fate.

This show will take us back five years and show the journey of a man who went from being a nihilist to a martyr who gave his life for the galaxy. Season 1 will focus on the grim circumstances that make Andor a lost cynic who doesn’t really belong anywhere.

If we were to place this show side-by-side with another series, it would be Star Wars: Rebels. That show also took place five years before A New Hope. During the time, there was no one unified rebellion group.

At the time, pockets of groups were fighting the terror caused by the Sith Lord, and we never got to see Cassian Andor cross paths with Ezra, Ahsoka, and the rest of the gang. Maybe they were in different parts of the galaxy, or perhaps their paths did cross off-screen. We still don’t know.

We most likely have to wait till Season 2 to find out. After all, the primary focus of Season 1 would be Cassian’s life and what shapes him.

Overall, this is everything we know about Star Wars: Andor so far, and it is a lot of information. Usually, the studio keeps all show-related information tightly under wraps until the series is released.

However, this time, the people involved have extensively spoken about the story, the timeline, and even their character arcs. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.
