Star Wars: The Bad Batch S2 E5 Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

The widespread embrace of serialization has made creatives lose the art of making an excellent stand-alone episode. Most (if not all) shows follow a particular scheme in which watching a random episode without watching the previous ones is never an option.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch delivers a perfect stand-alone episode this week as we see the members of Clone Force 99 engage in some exciting pod racing!

There are intense racing sequences and moments of ecstasy. The day is finally saved by Tech, who makes the best use of his mutated skill, i.e., intelligence!

Without further ado, lets get Sherlocking!

1. Season 2, Episode 5 Synopsis/Speculation

Ciddarin ‘Cid’ Scaleback

In this week’s episode, Echo and Hunter are away. So, Cid brings Omega, Tech, and Wrecker as her protector for a high-stake pod racing game.

Their job is to stand by her and protect her from Millegi, her long-standing rival. After a series of events, she eventually manages to win with the help of Tech, but Millegi warns the Clones that Cid’s loyalty isn’t one to be trusted. And Millegi is right!

Cid will eventually side with the Empire and betray the Bad Batch. She is one of those who only cares for money and will go to any lengths to acquire it.

Last week, we saw how desperate Admiral Rampart was to catch these ‘traitors’. Will he lure Cid into helping him find them? I see a pact developing between the Empire and this dealer very soon.

Also, Crosshair’s next mission could be executing the Bad Batch. Given that Crosshair knows about the whereabouts of Cid, it isn’t too far-fetched for Cid to play a double game and show her true colors at the very end of the season.

Also, Commander Cody is missing as things stand. Will he come to the rescue at a later time? The Bad Batch needs to understand the implications of being friendly with someone like Cid, or the results could be catastrophic!

Whatever happens, we are in for a nailbiter of a season!

Tech

If you were flying your own spaceship and missed today’s episode, then we have you covered!

Hunter and Echo are off on a mission in this week’s episode. Cid takes Omega, Tech, and Wrecker as her security to protect her from Millegi.

She has made deals with high stakes in a pod racing competition. Cid has a new Pilot, TAY-O, and she thinks she can win the race with it.

Millegi’s pilot cheats during the race and makes TAY-O crash. After repeated blows, TAY-O loses his limbs and finally dies.

With TAY-O out of the competition, Tech takes the onus and starts racing himself. Using calculations and common sense, he decides to ditch his speeders weapons and focus on shields to gain speed.

Tech decides to take the shortest tunnel near the end. With one insane maneuver after another, he catches up to Jet Venim and gets a last-minute win.

In the end, Millegi warns the Clones not to trust Cid. She remarks that loyalty for her doesn’t go both ways.

This starts the clock for Cid’s inevitable betrayal. The boys need to quickly realize that she is not a friend!

5. About Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an American animated show created by Dave Filoni for Disney+. It is both a sequel and a spin-off of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series’ renewal was announced right before season 1’s two-part finale.

Dee Bradley Baker reprises his role as voice actor for all the clone troopers from the previous Star Wars animated projects. Additionally joining him are Ming-Na Wen, Stephen Stanton, Andrew Kishino and Michelle Ang.

The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental troopers of Clone Force 99 as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars. Choosing to become an independent group of mercenaries the show will see them undertake dangerous missions.
