Star Wars: The Bad Batch S2 E9 Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

This week’s mid-season finale was a treat for every Star Wars fan out there. The doubleheader week featured Admiral Rampart’s arrest and the passing of the Imperial Recruitment Bill.

However, one of the Bad Batch members decided to separate from the group and choose a different path.

That decision was unexpected, and I hope this is not the last time we see that clone.

Without any further ado, let’s start speculating about next week’s events!

1. Season 2, Episode 9 Synopsis/Speculation

Next week’s episode is named ‘The Crossing,’ and I will go by its philosophical aspect. Crossing means moving forward and crossing over to another side. In most cases, philosophy hasn’t generally aligned with Star Wars, but I think it works here.

The biggest story of this week is that Rampart is arrested. I want to see the reassignment of Rampart and the change in his nature over the next few weeks.

Star Wars has used its supposed ‘villains’ as wildcards very frequently in the past. Rampart could easily assume the Syril Karn role but within the limitations of the Imperial structure. It will be exciting to see how that guy claws his way up the ladder.

Many fans say the arrest was just an eyewash, but I don’t think so. I believe Admiral Rampart was actually set up, and he will get help from Tarkin to unleash his wrath on Rex and Chuchi.

Also, ‘The Crossing’ could signify crossing over to another side of the coin. Since Admiral Rampart is gone for the time being, Crosshair might have a revelation, and I want to see him eventually ‘crossing’ over to the good side.

We haven’t seen Crosshair for a long time now. The last time he appeared was in episode 3, and Rampart was about to assign him a new mission.

Crosshair and Rampart are scheming something nefarious. The two are the main villains of season 2, and they are bound to come back at one point or the other.

The third kind of ‘crossing’ over is that of the clones. They have been the main focus of the last two episodes. Rex returns to Coruscant this week, and he is the fulcrum character that could help the clones change sides if they want to and turn against the Empire.

Also, Rex now has Echo as the second-in-command. So, it will be interesting to see how the Clone rebellion shapes up over time and how instrumental these two are.

Emperor Palpatine

In episode 7, Rampart pushes for the bill that authorizes military recruitment of Imperial citizens. Meanwhile, Senator Rio Chuchi, a defender of clones’ fundamental rights, is approached by Slip, whose friend Cade is murdered on Rampart’s orders.

Chuchi begins his investigation, but Admiral Rampart sends an assassin to kill Slip. Just when Slip is about to testify, the assassin does his job. Just as the assassin tries to murder Chuchi, he is rescued by Rex.

In episode 8, Rex contacts the Bad batch and asks them to help himself and Chuchi. They sneak into the cruiser and retrieve Slip’s copy of Rampart’s command log from the Star Destroyer.

The next morning, Chuchi gets Rampart arrested on account of the murder. This is followed by Emperor Palpatine ordering the Imperial Recruitment Bill to be passed.

The episode ends with the Bad Batch leaving Coruscant, but Echo decides to stay and help Chuchi and Rex.

6. About Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an American animated show created by Dave Filoni for Disney+. It is both a sequel and a spin-off of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series’ renewal was announced right before season 1’s two-part finale.

Dee Bradley Baker reprises his role as voice actor for all the clone troopers from the previous Star Wars animated projects. Additionally joining him are Ming-Na Wen, Stephen Stanton, Andrew Kishino and Michelle Ang.

The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental troopers of Clone Force 99 as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars. Choosing to become an independent group of mercenaries the show will see them undertake dangerous missions.
