Most Heartbreaking Scene from The Last of Us teased before its Release.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Storm Reid teases one episode she took part in. Known for her roles in A Wrinkle in Time and Euphoria, Reid will play Riley Abel in the upcoming HBO Max series, The Last of Us.

The show is an adaptation of the 2013 Naughty Dog game of the same name. It focuses on a dystopian future where humanity has succumbed to a deadly fungus that converts everyone to mindless zombies.

The grotesque monsters aren’t the only attraction in the show. It has several emotional subplots that will surely be tear-jerkers for the viewers. In the interview, Riley talks about one of them and delivers high praise for co-star Bella Ramsey, who will play Ellie. Reid says she is looking forward to sharing the screen with Bella in episodes 1 and 8.

I had a great time. To be able to say that I shared a screen with Bella Ramsey is just incredible. I think she’s absolutely brilliant, and I can’t wait to see our episode. It was so much fun to film, and it was heartbreakingly beautiful. So I just can’t wait to see it all come together, and I’m just excited for the show and the universe as a whole. I didn’t play the video games, but I am definitely going to tune in every Sunday to watch every episode. I’m just so invested as a fan now.

Let’s dive a little bit into the history of Riley!

Star Teases The Last of Us’ Most Heartbreaking Scene Before its Release
Riley and Ellie

Riley first appears in the 2013 comic book prequel The Last of Us: American Dreams. There she meets Ellie for the first time before the catastrophe begins.

She again appears in the 2014 video game The Last of Us: Left Behind, which explores the chemistry between Riley and Ellie and the events that follow before she joins the Fireflies.

Riley also appears in the series’ trailers, where she is shown in a couple of snapshots having fun with her sister Ellie. It reminds us of a time when everything was alright, and the girls used to lead a normal life.

Their close bond not only provides them strength but also helps them go back to being children again from time to time.

This touching camaraderie between the two is beautiful to watch, but it will also result in a significant heartbreak in the series. Once their story plays out, the audience will be in tears because the end is heartbreaking. Reid has hinted that heavily in her interview.

Riley doesn’t appear in the video games because she was in Ellie’s life before Ellie meets Joel. But the series won’t play along these boundaries. Hence, we can see Riley play a more prominent role in the series and get to know the character better.

The Last of Us has already garnered extensive accolades even before its release on HBO Max. Season 1 has been called one of the best video game adaptations ever by many critics. This is partly due to the brilliant display by Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, and the extensive budget and effort put into the series.

The show will premiere on January 15 on streaming devices. Watch the trailer here:
