The Roy Family’s Final Showdown: Succession Finale to Run for 90 Minutes

The last episode of the HBO show Succession will be as long as a feature film, according to the music composer Nicholas Britell.

Succession season 4 shocked fans by killing off Logan Roy, the head of the Roy family and Waystar Royco, in the third episode, “Connor’s Wedding.” The rest of the season has been about Kendall and Roman taking charge of the media empire while secretly trying to stop a takeover from GoJo, a streaming service.

The final episode of the season will be as long as a movie, Britell told Variety. The music composer said that Succession season 4, episode 10, “With Open Eyes,” would run for 90 minutes. That’s the typical length of a feature film. Here’s what Britell said:

“It’s 90 minutes. It’s a huge episode — like a movie.”

Kendall pulls off his Living+ project, a luxury community that Logan had dreamed of before he died, in Succession season 4, episode 6. Mattson, the GoJo boss, can’t stop Kendall’s presentation, which makes Waystar’s stock go up.

Succession season 4, episode 7 hints at a showdown between the Roy brothers and Mattson when Mattson shows up at Kendall’s Living+ party uninvited.

Succession’s last four episodes could change everything, but only one person will be the boss of Waystar at the end. Roman also fired many Waystar workers, including Gerri, in season 4, episode 6.

This could show that he’s not fit to be co-CEO for long. The Board might not like Roman’s actions, and that could hurt Kendall, who didn’t stop his brother from making bad choices.

Succession is also a sad show, so maybe none of the Roy kids will be the boss of Waystar at the end. Mattson might just take over the company, and Waystar becomes part of GoJo, ending the power struggle for some characters.

But things are looking good for Waystar after Kendall’s Living+ project worked out, so Succession might still end well for the Roy family in its long finale.
